Introduction to Law and Society at Philadelphia University:
The Law and Society major engages students in the study of a dynamic area of contemporary social issues with local, national and global implications. It also provides students
with a deep, interdisciplinary and experiential understanding of the legal issues associated
with current global trends in business, politics, sociology, science
and technology, and international affairs.
With the expansion of international organizations and the
increasingly global scope of environmental, cultural,
military and economic issues, the twenty-first century
promises an extraordinary transformation in legal systems
within both the United States and internationally, creating
new opportunities and new contexts for international,
business, immigration, environmental, media and technology, and civil law.
Given the
far-reaching impact of legal issues in so many areas of
modern life, an understanding of the origins and operations
of American and international legal systems is of value in
virtually every profession and for every global citizen.
Philadelphia University’s unique program in Law and Society
offers in-depth training in liberal arts and social
sciences, close attention to communication skills, and
focused training in other professional areas of the
student’s choice. With this broad and professionally
oriented education, graduates can choose from a wide variety
of career options.
