HOW TO FIND ARTICLES

Getting Started

You've been assigned a research paper or a project. You need to find journal articles or articles from professional publications or newspapers on your topic.

Some professors will be very specific about the types of articles you may use in your paper, so check the assignment instructions, talk to your professor, and ask a librarian for advice.

A list of all the electronic sources the library subscribes to are in the drop down box on the main library webpage. If you know which database you want to use, select it from this list.

Databases are also organized by major academic programs. To see descriptions of the databases appropriate to your subject, choose one of the following.

If you need additional guidance contact a librarian at the Gutman Library Reference Desk  in person or at ext 2848 or by e-mail.

Getting Articles in Full-Text Format Electronically

Many of the articles in our library databases are available in full text, and you can print, save, or e-mail the articles to yourself.

If the article you need is not be available in full-text in the database you are searching, it may be available elsewhere.    Some articles will be available in print at Gutman Library or you can request it interlibrary loan.
