Frank Baseman is the principal of Baseman Design Associates, an award-winning, interdisciplinary graphic design firm providing visual communication services to a variety of corporations and institutions. The work of Baseman Design Associates has received recognition from numerous national and international communication organizations, design exhibitions and publications, such as: the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA); the Art Directors Clubs of New York and Philadelphia; Best of Show Award, AIGA/Boston Best of New England (`Bone Show`) Design Competition; Communication Arts Magazine; Graphis Posters; How Magazine; the Lahti and Warsaw Poster Biennales; The Philadelphia Inquirer; Photographis; Print Magazine and Print Magazine Regional Design Annuals; the Society of Illustrators; the Society of Publication Designers; the Type Directors Club of New York; and the University and College Designers Association.

Baseman was a co-curator of The Graphic Imperative: International Posters for Peace, Social Justice and The Environment, 1965-2005 [www.thegraphicimperative.org], (2005), a traveling exhibition of forty years of sociopolitical posters. He was co-chair of Revolution: Philadelphia, a national AIGA Design Education Conference [www.revolutionphiladelphia.aiga.org] (2005) and the author/curator of The Tolerance Project, a student poster design competition and exhibition (2002). Frank has written articles for Voice: AIGA Journal of Design and The Education of a Graphic Designer, 2nd edition (Allworth Press, 2005) and he was named a `Person to Watch in 2006` by GD USA Magazine. He was awarded the Innovation in Teaching Award at Philadelphia University in 2007.

Frank Baseman has been working in the graphic design industry for more than twenty years. Prior to starting Baseman Design Associates, he was an Art Director at Philadelphia Magazine. He has also worked in a number of prominent design studios in New York City as a Senior Designer and Art Director with Walter Bernard and Milton Glaser, and the Bernhardt Fudyma Design Group. He was an Assistant Professor and Founding Director of the Tyler Design Workshop at Tyler School of Art.

In 2008, Frank was awarded the Fellow Award from AIGA Philadelphia, and he has also served on the national board of directors of AIGA [www.aiga.org], the professional association for design (2003-2006). In addition, he has served as the founding chair of the national steering committee for the AIGA Design Education Community of Interest (2001-2006) [designeducators.aiga.org]. He continues to serve on the advisory committee for this Community.
