Helping Those in Need

Bryant Greene M’96

bryantGreeneBryant Greene M’96 earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Virginia State University. In the early stages of his career, he realized an MBA would increase his chances of advancing in the highly competitive business market. Greene selected Philadelphia University to pursue his degree because of its convenient Bucks County campus location. He appreciated the flexibility of the classes offered and his fellow Central High School and VSU alumni raved about the program. Greene enjoyed sharing experiences with his professors and classmates, and he realized that everyone in his classes were encountering similar challenges in their varied business sectors. “My PhilaU experience definitely ignited an ambition to be in senior leadership and ultimately a business entrepreneur.”

When Greene was laid off from his last position, he decided to conduct research on running a senior care franchise. Of all of the turn key operations he was introduced to, senior care peaked his interest. “I have always gotten along with seniors and I love the idea of helping those in need,” explained Greene. He was blessed to have both sets of grandparents and both great grandmothers living for a very long time. He understands the love, care and patience needed to care for the elderly.

Green’s ambition became a reality and he is now the owner of a multi franchise unit, Always Best Care Senior Services, a non-medical in-home care agency providing services in all of Philadelphia and Lower Bucks counties. At ABC, they specialize in supporting the activities of daily living such as companion care, bathing, grooming, dressing, light meal preparation, incontinence care, laundry and light housekeeping. ABC Team Greene mainly supports seniors, as well as individuals 18 and older who need similar assistance in the home.

As most business owners, Green faces the challenge of competition and maintaining superior core skills. ABC is a fairly new agency and building trust in new relationships in a highly competitive market can be challenging.  Other trials Greene has encountered are the lack of diversity in the workplace, restrictive budgets and the unrealistic business demands per employee and/or department. Despite the inevitable challenges, he always tries to maintain a positive attitude. “I have become the self-proclaimed expert of turning lemons into lemonade!”

Greene believes he works in a very rewarding profession. The services his agency provides allows seniors, especially those without family in the area, to age in a place or at home without having to lose the comfort of their personal home settings and community. “Our clients rely on us to help them live independently with some assistance ultimately maintaining their dignity. We treat people the way we would want to be treated. ALWAYS,” exclaimed Greene.

This entrepreneur has several goals for the future. He currently has over 500 clients and 600 caregivers. ABC Team Greene would like to expand into Delaware County and South Jersey. They also plan to apply for the skilled care license. Greene is most excited about the growth and need in his industry. He cites several reports which indicate that everyday 10,000 people will turn 65 for the next 19 years due to the Baby Boomer generation.

Greene keeps himself busy running ABC as well as staying connected to several community services such as Toys for Tots, Zoo Conservation, Walk to End Alzheimer’s and scholarship drives for inner city youth. “Some say when you enjoy what you do, it doesn’t feel like work,” said Greene. In his previous positions, maintaining a work/life balance was very challenging. Being an entrepreneur give him the ease of maintaining both. He is a proud parent of a college student in her third year. Greene is also a devoted animal lover and has two dogs, a German Sheperd and Bullmastiff.

Greene leaves his fellow alumni with one piece of advice, “Consistency is the hallmark of a professional, and, I would say, knowledge leads to confidence, which ultimately leads to success. Ignorance leads to fear and then in a lot of instance failure.”
