Home Directory Information
Space
is provided for academic file storage on
one of our file servers (ATHENA for
students, or JUNO for faculty and staff) in
the form of your "home
directory." This
directory enables you to maintain copies
of files on the server, which you may
access at any time from any computer
with Internet access.
Home directories have a maximum
allowable size (quota) of
1
gigabyte total. Accounts
approaching this limit will
receive an automatic e-mail
warning from the system. If you find
that the available space is insufficient for your legitimate
academic needs, you can have an instructor place a request
with the
Technology Help Desk for additional "home directory"
space on your behalf.
NOTE: It is
always best to keep multiple backups of
all files that are kept on the server in
home directories. We recommend archiving
files to CD/DVD/USB drives of older
academic data.
