Video and Media Creating and Sharing Services
There are many services available to staff and faculty to help create and record visual media for students. Below are some of the technologies OIR supports and resources to help create media content from VHS tapes and classroom recordings.
Jing
Jing (http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html) captures anything displayed on the user's computer screen, as an image or short video, and lets users share it instantly. Jing allows users to:
- Take Screenshots: Capture an image of what is displayed on screen
- Record Screencasts: Record up to 5 minutes of onscreen video
Prezi
Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software that opens up a new world between whiteboards and slides. This cloud service is located at www.prezi.com
VHS to DVD Media Conversion
Available in the basement of the library is a space dedicated to transferring VHS tapes to DVD's. Since most of the rooms on campus no longer support VHS we have created this outlet for professors who would like to keep old content to show in the classrooms.
