  Mechanical Engineering Program Objectives
 

 

  • Develop creativity and intellectual curiosity in graduates.

  • Understand and apply the mathematical, physical and computer sciences to reason scientifically, solve quantitative problems and use technology.

  • Apply fundamentals of mathematics, chemistry, physics, and engineering to mechanical engineering analysis and design involving both mechanical and thermal/fluids systems.

  • Use the engineering design process by which mathematical and scientific facts and principles are applied.

  • Understand and appreciate human behavior, achievement and development of ideas in a global context.

  • Communicate in precise language, correct sentences, and concise, coherent paragraphs-each communication evincing clear, critical thinking.

  • Demonstrate moral awareness gained through study of the basis for and complexities of life.

  • Demonstrate commitment to progressive and continued educational development.

  • Ensure that each student completes a broad curriculum embracing the liberal arts, basic and applied sciences and engineering.
